Biomedical Science Director’s Welcome

Welcome to the High Point University Master of Science in Biomedical Sciences program. As the program director, I am excited to share what this program offers for students. Biomedical science focuses on understanding the intricate biological processes in single cells, organs, organ systems, and the entire human body. The primary goal is to equip students with the tools to comprehend biological processes in healthy and diseased conditions through the study of how genes, proteins, cells, and organs interact to impact human health and contribute to diseases.

High Point University’s program is carefully crafted to guide students toward their chosen career path. The program integrates valuable input from faculty members with expertise in various biomedical sciences such as anatomy, biochemistry, cell biology, clinical training, immunology, microbiology, neuroscience, nutrition, pharmacology, and physiology.

The faculty emphasizes a hands-on learning environment, utilizing collaboration and self-directed learning. The curriculum strongly promotes critical thinking in basic/translational research and clinical training while encouraging lively discussions and networking with scientific scholars and clinicians. The our program offers essential hands-on learning opportunities through biomedical research, internships, work at clinical sites, and emergency medical training.

The program employs a student-centered approach, with small class sizes and supportive faculty dedicated to student success. In addition to rigorous biomedical science training, HPU students develop strong communication skills, ethical understanding, professionalism, and critical thinking abilities. In addition, HPU’s cooperative culture fosters a supportive environment where faculty members inspire and motivate students.
