Exploring Summer 2015 Internship Opportunities

As we approach Spring Break next month, students and parents are focused on securing a summer experience that will further develop career goals and help pave the way to employment following graduation. This experience can occur through a variety of ways – a job shadowing opportunity, a paid or non-paid internship (can be done for academic credit but the credit is not a critical factor), a paid summer job related to career goals, volunteer/mission work, educational travel, and summer classes/conferences that enhance skills and lead to valuable connections.

Of these ways, internships seem to generate the most “buzz.” Check out this article that outlines five reasons why every student should pursue an internship and highlights excellent examples of the positive outcomes HPU students have enjoyed.

If your student would like to explore summer opportunities and discus effective search strategies, we invite him/her to make an appointment with Career & Internship Services by emailing our Office Manager Jen Paolino. Also, please encourage your student to attend the Spring Career & Internship Expo from 1:00 to 4:00 on Wednesday, February 11. Click here to view Expo details and a list of over 45 participating organizations.  Many of these organizations are actively recruiting HPU students for summer jobs/internships, so this is a great way to network through a face-to-face conversation.
