The Sunday New York Times featured the High Point University Survey Research Center, the HPU Poll, and its associate director, Brian McDonald. Click here to read “Training a Team of Students to Tap Into the Public Mind.”
The Q & A, which ran in print and online, highlights the experiential learning HPU students gain by working at the center, as well as the public service provided through their efforts to survey North Carolina residents.

HPU’s Survey Research Center opened in 2010 and is led by Dr. Martin Kifer, director of the center, as well as McDonald. Under their direction, the HPU Poll has been cited by national publications. Kifer and McDonald have been interviewed hundreds of times for television, radio, newspapers and blogs about American politics and public opinion—including the findings of the HPU Poll.
As the 2016 Presidential Election approaches, the fall semester will offer a number of opportunities for students to engage in the political process, including through the Survey Research Center.
