Water Safety Concern

Dear HPU family,

The City of High Point has reported an isolated incident of e. Coli in city water supply. Out of an abundance of caution, please avoid drinking water from fountains or using water from faucets for teeth brushing at this time. Complimentary clean drinking water is available immediately at the Slane Center Cafe and Wanek Center lobby. Bottled water supplies are also being placed in the lobby of all residence halls. Staff are also working to place bottled water inside each room in residential facilities for teeth brushing.

Samples taken by the city above and below the sample location, which was off campus, showed no bacteria present, which indicates an isolated incident. We understand an isolated incident indicates that it will be resolved within 48 hours.

In addition to the large supply of bottled water the HPU campus secured for move-in day, the university is securing additional supplies out of an abundance of caution. A water distribution plan on campus includes multiple outdoor bottled water stations and ample supplies of bottled water at dining locations on campus. All dining locations are operating under safe food practices. The university will continue to provide complimentary bottled water until the city confirms that tap water is safe.

All Welcome Week activities are still on schedule, including move-in day activities for Saturday.
