How HPU helped you get there: “HPU has given me the opportunity to build lasting connections. Whether it be with professors, peers or faculty. You have the ability to find your own niche at HPU because it has the atmosphere of a small school with the benefits of a large university.”
Most impactful mentor at HPU: “Benita VanWinkle, assistant professor of art, has been my most impactful mentor at HPU. She was one of the first professors I encountered that has a genuine passion for her subject, photography. As a novice photographer myself, she was willing to help me become better with my camera and taught me how to shoot better photos.”
Most impactful moment at HPU: “My most impactful moment came while doing my final project for econometrics with Dr. Peter Summers, assistant professor of economics. We bonded over baseball, which is completely different than economics. This is one examples of how I have created meaningful relationships with my professors in and out of the classroom.”
Advice for underclassmen: “Follow opportunity, whether it’s doing research for your major or getting an internship. It may not necessarily be your passion or your career goal, but it will help you achieve success in your career after college.”
