Top 10 Reasons You Can’t Miss HPU Homecoming

Homecoming Weekend is right around the corner! As alumni make their way back to campus on October 5, HPU prepares to host over 25 events for an exciting, memorable weekend. Here are the Top 10 can’t-miss opportunities alumni and students can expect:

You get to come back HOME! Whether you visit the Slane Center, Wanek Center, the Kester International Promenade or another favorite spot on campus, it just feels right. You can look around and instantly reminisce on your incredible four years at HPU with so much to be thankful for. Whether it’s been five months or five years since you’ve been back, you can take a campus tour to keep up with your ever-growing alma mater.

Reunite with your friends, roommates, affinity groups and more. Between the Young Alumni Welcome Party, Reunion Tent at the Tailgate & Block Party, 25th Reunion event, 60th Reunion event, Cornerstone Club Breakfast, and Greek Brunch, there are so many opportunities to catch up with your favorite former classmates. The Tailgate will have Derby Day Corn, live music, food trucks, bounce houses and more! What’s better than being surrounded by your closest fellow alumni?

Celebrate our extraordinary alumni!  The Alumni Awards Ceremony and Reception recognizes the outstanding achievements of 13 inspiring alumni. Learn more about our impactful Alumni Association and honor the award recipients!

One word: Swag. “I don’t like getting free stuff,” said no one ever! Pre-register to secure your complimentary registration gift when you check in at the R.G. Wanek Center.

Make memories in an innovative photo booth. Stop by for a group photo that you can share instantly on social media with an animated gif. Plus, you’ll receive a printed photo on the spot. Find the photo booth in the Wanek Center at Registration and at the Tailgate & Block Party on Saturday.

Not all heroes wear capes! Become a community hero and take part in a service project hosted by the Bed Brigade and Alpha Phi Omega. Help make blankets for a local veterans homelessness shelter.

Expand your foodie pallet. 1924 Prime opens its doors to you over Homecoming weekend! Be sure to secure your spot at the restaurant before reservations close on September 27 (here’s a reminder that meals are $50 per person). The Panther Prowl gives you the chance to go around town and enjoy our local hot spots’ specials for Homecoming Weekend! With your pre-registration, you can enjoy one complimentary meal on a campus ranked #1 in the nation for best food. Top that off with a stop at the Extraordinaire Cinema where you can snag popcorn and catch a family film!

Gather to honor our fellow alumni in worship. The Homecoming Chapel Service is the perfect conclusion to our weekend, featuring the Homecoming Chapel Choir, under the direction of Dr. Marc Foster, as well as alumnus Dane Jackson ’08 who will be delivering the message.

Celebrate the beginning of fall at our annual Oktoberfest. Enjoy food from some of the best food trucks in the area and live music at High Point’s award winning craft brewery, Brown Truck Brewery!

Go out with a bang. Join us in Vert Stadium for a spectacular fireworks display following the Women’s Soccer game on Saturday night.
