Hometown: Denver, Colorado
Major: Finance with a minor in data analytics
Post-graduation plans: Kong will be joining FAST Enterprises as a data warehousing analyst. In this role, he will develop processes and jobs for the FAST Data Services team and Collection Services and provide back-end workflows, data reports and solution requests for clients and other data teams.
How HPU helped you get there: “HPU provided me a foundation with a variety of courses, caring staff and networking opportunities. All of which provided me with knowledge and challenged me intellectually. The Office of Career and Professional Development also helped me build my resume and network.”
Most impactful mentor at HPU: “Dr. Hall was my most impactful mentor at HPU. He has a drive to help students succeed. He provided me with numerous certification and internship opportunities that helped me gain experience and grow. Dr. Hall strives to connect like-minded students, so they help each other succeed. His positive attitude and kind personality make him a mentor I am proud to have.”
Most impactful moment at HPU: “Winning multiple intramural sports championships were my most impactful moments. It brought me and my friends closer, and is where I made many connections. Intramural sports helped me find my group and succeed at HPU.”
How has HPU’s inspiring environment contributed to your success? “HPU’s environment gives you a push to be great and to focus on your career goals. Being around so many people with the same drive ultimately pushes you to do better.”
Advice for underclassmen: “Surround yourself with people who have a similar outlook as you, and pick your connections wisely. Staff and professors want to help students in every way but if you do not show initiative and focus, you won’t fully benefit. Know your goals, and have the right people in your circle to help you achieve your goals.”
