Name: Lexi Silverio

Major: Psychology
Post-graduation plans: Silverio will attend the University of Maryland in Baltimore, Maryland, to pursue a master’s in forensic medicine.
How HPU helped you get there:
“HPU’s hands-on, experiential learning allowed me to pursue topics I love outside the typical classroom setting. Unique programs such as the Willed Body Program gave me the opportunity to shadow as a lab assistant and gain hands-on experience that helped nurture and encourage my future goals and love for forensic science.”
Most impactful mentor at HPU:
“My most impactful mentor at HPU was Dr. Chris Fowler, director of environmental studies and associate professor of chemistry. Since I took his forensic chemistry course my junior year, he helped foster my love for forensic science. He encouraged me to pursue my goal to become a forensic pathologist and helped with my application process to graduate schools.”
Most impactful moment at HPU:
“My most impactful moment at HPU was when I chose my sorority, Alpha Chi Omega (AXO). The women in my sorority support who I am, push me to pursue my dreams and encouraged me to take on leadership roles both in and outside of AXO. I arrived at HPU as a shy freshman and being around the strong women in AXO shaped me into the leader and woman I am today.”
How has HPU’s inspiring environment contributed to your success?
“The inspiring environment at HPU encouraged me to pursue my goals. Having opportunities to work as a research assistant and lab assistant fostered my love for science in general as well as helped me gain transferable experience. Being surrounded by faculty and students who want to see you do your best really helps push you. You truly feel like everyone is your cheerleader as HPU.”
What are the life skills HPU helped you develop that prepared you for long-term success?
