Home Furnishings Leadership Institute
TO ACCELERATE THE GROWTH OF LEADERSHIP IN THE HOME FURNISHINGS INDUSTRY
The American Home Furnishings Hall of Fame Foundation, Inc., is an industrywide organization founded in 1988 to preserve its history, to celebrate exceptional individuals who have made extraordinary contributions to the U.S. home furnishings industry and to inspire the next generation of innovative leaders. The Leadership Initiative is focused on generating unity and greater leadership across the industry. Each year, a world-class, “only at the Hall of Fame,” speaker addresses the industry at the Induction Celebration. Inducted members of the Hall of Fame engage with emerging leaders through two programs. First, five emerging leaders are named as a Paul Broyhill Future Leader at a private dinner and participate in a master’s discussion guided by the founder of Furniture Today. The Home Furnishings Leadership Institute at High Point University exposes 25 emerging leaders to the wisdom and experience of inducted members of the Hall of Fame through keynote interviews with members of the Hall of Fame, challenging tutorial seminars and peer learning gained through challenging discussions. As an industry, we can be proud that we serve a noble purpose: We improve lives by creating beautiful homes.

National Home Delivery Association
Our partnership and focus with the National Home Delivery Association is to help develop and prepare their emerging leaders with the skills and confidence to rise to the C-Suite, and for some, to run their company one day. We will call this program the National Home Delivery Association Leadership Institute. This leadership development program at HPU, based on the Harvard Business School Seminars for the YPO and CEO Organizations, will focus on the four pillars of leadership critical to running a successful organization: The pillars are: Vision, Communication, Execution, and Culture.Select faculty from HPU’s Phillips School of Business along with Dr. Daniel Hall, Dean of the Business School, will lead a combination of lectures and case studies to prepare emerging leaders for the C-suite. We will bring in seasoned veterans from the home delivery industry to share their knowledge and interact with these future leaders. We are thrilled to work with the leaders of NHDA to launch this program in the fall of 2023! There is no other program like this for this industry.
The National Home Delivery Association and High Point University are pleased to announce the first annual National Home Delivery Association Leadership Institute November 5-8.
Participants who attend three institutes will receive a certificate and digital badge honoring and identifying each as a National Home Delivery Association Leadership Institute Fellow. Classes and discussion groups will meet on HPU’s campus in Cottrell Hall and will utilize the, new, boutique Jana and Ken Kahn Hotel on campus which first opened in September of 2021. Room and board are included with tuition.

“When we first became familiar with the power and impact of the High Point University Leadership Institute based on the prestigious Harvard Business School Seminar for the Young President’s Organization and Chief Executives Organization – attended by many leaders in the industry – we recognized the need that our industry has for a high level of thinking and sharing of ideas gained through focused tutorial seminars. This is for serious emerging leaders across the industry who aspire to C-suite positions. The question is not, ‘how will I make time for this, but rather how could I miss this opportunity for impact, growth, and connection with others in our industry who want to be exposed to new ways of thinking and problem-solving? There is no other program like this offered in our industry.”
