Dr. Dustin Johnson is an Associate Professor of Education at High Point University, where he has served since 2007. He currently coordinates the Master’s Program in Educational Leadership and has served multiple terms as Chair of the Department of Leadership Studies. His university leadership has included overseeing graduate leadership programs, revising educational leadership licensure programs, recruiting graduate cohorts, chairing faculty and departmental initiatives, and teaching a wide range of graduate and undergraduate courses in school administration, leadership, research, school law, data-driven improvement, and instructional supervision. He earned his Ed.D. in Educational Leadership from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where his dissertation examined the relationship between instructional program coherence and student achievement in North Carolina middle schools.
Prior to joining High Point University, Dr. Johnson served as a public school teacher, assistant principal, and principal in North Carolina, including leadership roles at Archdale-Trinity Middle School and Brooks Global Extended Year Magnet School. His professional work focuses on educational leadership, middle level education, teacher leadership, school improvement, data-driven decision making, and the relationship between leadership, school culture, and student achievement. He has presented at state, national, and international conferences, published in educational leadership and middle grades journals, chaired doctoral dissertations, and served in leadership roles with professional organizations including the Association for Middle Level Education and the North Carolina Association for Middle Level Education. His career reflects a sustained commitment to preparing effective school leaders, strengthening public school partnerships, and supporting educators who improve outcomes for students.
