Dr. Katy Field was a high school history teacher for 18 years before joining the faculty of High Point University in the fall of 2023. As an assistant professor of educator preparation, Dr. Field currently teaches courses in educational psychology, classroom management, and social studies methods. Her research interests include student engagement, cultivating higher order thinking skills in social studies, and twice exceptional students. Dr. Field has presented at numerous regional and national conferences on topics such as engagement, debate, problem-based learning, and curriculum design. She has experience with boarding schools, private day schools, and public schools. Dr. Field was recognized as teacher of the year at the Providence Day School (Charlotte, NC) in 2008 and continues to work toward building bridges between the worlds of policy, research, and practice to support K-12 classrooms.
