Tara Shollenberger, Ed.D., is an Assistant Professor of Educational Studies at High Point University, where she teaches in Leadership Studies. She holds a Doctor of Education in Adult and Community College Education from North Carolina State University, where she is also completing a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership, Policy, and Human Development with a concentration in Higher Education. Dr. Shollenberger’s scholarly work spans women’s leadership in higher education, higher education law and policy, threat assessment, and student affairs. Her research has been published in journals including the Journal of College Student Mental Health, the Journal of Organizational and Educational Leadership, and the Journal of College and University Student Housing. She is the co-author of the practitioner text Higher Education Law: A Practitioner’s Guide (Kendall Hunt, 2024).
Prior to joining HPU’s faculty, Dr. Shollenberger served for more than a decade as a higher education administrator, including as Assistant Vice President for Student Life at High Point University, where she led threat assessment, student conduct, Title IX, and fraternity and sorority life operations. She brings this practitioner expertise directly into her teaching and advising of doctoral students. Dr. Shollenberger serves as Executive Director of NC Professors of Educational Leadership and as a member of the NABITA Advisory Board. She is also an active presenter at national conferences, including NASPA and NABITA, and serves as a dissertation chair and committee member for doctoral candidates across a range of education leadership topics.
