Library Policies

Patrons

The law library and study rooms (including those in the third floor hallway just outside the main library doors) are restricted to law school faculty, staff, and students only. High Point University patrons, including undergraduate students and graduate students from non-law programs, are welcome to make a research appointment by emailing [email protected] if you need access to resources only available in the law library.

Food & Drink

In order to maintain a welcoming environment for all patrons and guests of the library, food is not permitted in the law library. Students are encouraged to utilize the student lounge on the first floor of the law school building for meals and snacks.

Drinks are allowed in spill-proof containers.

Quiet

The main library floor is a whisper zone; please speak only in very low voices.

Regular volume conversations, group study, and collaboration are welcome in the study rooms to either side of the library and in the hallway study rooms, which can be reserved here or with the QR code in each room.

Study rooms 328 and 329 are reserved for silent study. These rooms are no longer reservable by a single person; rather, anyone who would like to study and work in complete silence are welcome to have a seat in either room. No talking, phone conversations, or noise from phones or laptops are allowed.

Study Carrels

Books, binders, and notebooks are the only items that should be left at study carrels long-term. Bags, jackets, blankets, and other personal items are allowed while the carrel is in use, but should not be left for long periods of time including overnight.
