If you love different types of music like I do, then you should know that Smith Library is your source for all types of great sound. Of course, you can YouTube specific choices but let’s be honest, there is no joy in that!
You will have a great time selecting an album from Smith Library’s selection of over
- 1,000 CDs,
- 2,500 LPs, and
- streaming audio sources.
Not only will you find what you need now but you will likely also stumble upon things you can use later.
This is perfect for me, a part time DJ and media producer for the school I work with in Winston Salem. For example, while producing a soundtrack for a school play, I was able to find classic Christmas songs by Bing Crosby, Nat King Cole, and Johnny Mathis. I found a CD of sound effects which I still use for many other productions. In addition, I found a selection of Looney Tunes music. I use the That’s All Folks to conclude any party or school dance that I DJ.
Smith Library also has sound editing software called Audacity on most, if not all, of its computers. Students can use this to do their own mixing and produce tracks without having any major equipment.
In addition, Media Services in Smith Library has specialized equipment which can convert LP albums into MP3.
I used this device to turn my Jesus Christ Superstar album into digital tracks that I could burn onto a CD. Just make sure to do your research into related copyright laws before you jump into a project like this.
All of the music listed is located in Smith Library (except the Jesus Christ Superstar album). Streaming audio sources are listed under Databases A-Z.
