Bah Humbug! Celebrate Christmas with Classic Dickens

Bah Humbug!

This famous phrase is synonymous with Christmas and Charles Dickens’ Scrooge. The story of Scrooge and his visits from the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Future has been enjoyed by many generations since its creation in 1843. For many, it has become a Christmas tradition to either read A Christmas Carol, view it in video format or enjoy a live performance. We are fortunate in High Point that we may do just that!

Through the HPU Libraries we have access to many versions of the story through DVDs in our Media Collection on the first floor of Smith, print books located at either Smith Library or the Stout School of Education Resource Center or through the ebook databases.

If you desire to see a live performance, contact the High Point Theater for tickets to “A Christmas Carol: The Broadway Musical” presented by the High Point Community Theater.

And this year, thanks to the generosity of Dr. Mary Jo Hall, a graduate of the class of 1969, you may enjoy the Dickens Christmas Village. Dr. Hall donated her Village to the Stout School of Education and may be viewed at the Children’s Resource Center located on the first floor of the Stout School of Education. While there, we invite you to browse the collection. This collection is comprised of books geared to the K-8 grade levels to assist the High Point University students majoring in Education but is available to all students, faculty and staff.

If A Christmas Carol is not your favorite, then maybe you can find your favorite Holiday book or discover a new one among our 50+ Holiday titles available for checkout in the School of Education Resource Center!
