Archives & Special Collections welcomes students, faculty, staff, alumni, and outside researchers. You do not need to be an expert to use our collections. We are here to help you find, understand, and use rare, original, and historically significant materials.
Materials are rare, fragile, unique, or stored in secure collection areas. Researchers are encouraged to make an appointment before visiting.
What to Expect
During your visit, staff can help you:
- Identify materials related to your topic
- Request archival or special collections materials
- Learn how to handle rare or fragile items
- Understand collection organization
- Use primary sources for research, teaching, or creative projects
- Cite archival and special collections materials
- Some materials may require advance notice before they can be made available.

To request materials, please provide us as much information as possible, including:
- Your name and contact information
- Your research topic or question

Handling Guidelines

- Use clean hands and handle materials carefully
- Keep food and drink away from collection materials
- Use pencils or laptops for note-taking
- Maintain the order of archival folders or documents
- Use supports, weights, or gloves when requested by staff
- Staff will provide specific instructions when needed.
