Recreational Services

High Point University Recreation Services is a tailored comprehensive approach to wellness, fellowship and life-long fitness. Intramural sports, fitness programs, outdoor discovery activities, and multiple fitness facilities provide students opportunities to interact in a safe, caring environment that promotes holistic development. All services are complimentary to High Point University students. Our extensive student employment allows students to develop skills in leadership, management, communication, conflict resolution and customer service.

Intramural Sports
Intramural Sports (IM) feature competitive and non-competitive programming for female, male, and co-ed teams. Each semester IM Sports provides students with both team and individual competition. Some of the sports offered include: flag football, soccer, softball, indoor and beach volleyball, tennis, basketball, ultimate frisbee, softball, and pickleball. Students may follow HPU REC at our Facebook Group HPU Rec.
Group Exercise
Join the energy and community of HPU’s Group Exercise program—where students lead students in over 60 fun, motivating classes each week! From calming Yoga and toning Pilates to heart-pumping HIIT, Spin, and Barre, there’s something for every fitness level and interest.

All classes are held in Slane Student Center and Panther Commons, with convenient scheduling and variety to fit your routine.

Personal Training
Unlock your potential with complimentary personal training at High Point University! Our student trainers are here to help you reach your fitness goals through personalized, one-on-one sessions designed just for you.

We offer two 6-week blocks of personal training each semester, with 3 sessions per week—that’s 18 opportunities to get stronger, feel better, and stay motivated.

Sessions can be scheduled in Slane Student Center or Panther Commons, and all sign-ups are managed through the HPU REC app.

Outdoor Discovery
Step outside and explore with Outdoor Discovery at High Point University! Whether you're looking for thrill, teamwork, or a break from the everyday, we've got something for everyone.

At The Estate, take on exciting challenges with our High Ropes and Low Ropes courses—perfect for building confidence and camaraderie. For even more fun, dive into friendly competition with our Outdoor Laser Tag facility, all set in a scenic outdoor environment.

Throughout the year, join us on Venture Trips that take you off campus and into the great outdoors. From hiking and kayaking to camping and skiing, these adventures are your ticket to exploring new places, building friendships, and creating unforgettable memories.
Aquatics
Whether you're looking to swim laps, learn new skills, or just relax poolside, HPU Aquatics has something for everyone! With six outdoor heated pools and one indoor pool, there’s always a place to splash, unwind, or get in a great workout—rain or shine.

We offer swim lessons for all levels, intramural water sports for friendly competition, and plenty of opportunities for open swim throughout the week.

From fitness to fun, HPU Aquatics is your go-to for staying active and refreshed all year long.
Facilities
HPU REC brings wellness and recreation to every corner of campus with a wide range of amenities designed to help you stay active, relax, and have fun. Enjoy six outdoor heated pools, each featuring a 16-person Jacuzzi—the perfect spot to unwind between classes or after a workout.

Stay fit with access to 11 fitness facilities across campus, including a state-of-the-art Spin Studio—ensuring you have the resources you need, no matter where you live.

Recreational highlights also include an Intramural Field for sports and campus-wide events, along with three outdoor basketball courts and four beach volleyball courts for friendly competition and casual play.

For more laid-back leisure, check out activities like Bocce Ball, Corn Hole, Croquet, Bicycles, and a Tandem Bike—all available to help you stay active and have fun outdoors.
