With another successful Commencement behind us, recent High Point University graduates are already kicking-off prestigious career paths around the world at Fortune 500 companies, international service programs, public school systems, top-tier law, medical and graduate school programs, and many other esteemed organizations thanks to their journey at HPU. Here’s a glimpse of one extraordinary senior from the Class of 2019:
Name: Karen Davis
Hometown: West Chester, Pennsylvania
Major: History with a minor in philosophy
Post-graduation plans: Davis is attending the Villanova School of Law in Villanova, Pennsylvania.
How HPU helped you get there: “I am so grateful to all of my mentors for pushing me to realize my full potential. Without the support of my professors, I would not have graduated a year early to begin graduate school!”
Most impactful mentor at HPU: “All professors in the history and philosophy departments have open-door policies, and they have been so welcoming and willing to answer any questions I have. I couldn’t pick just one. They helped me not only with my coursework but in preparing for graduate school as well!”
Most impactful moment at HPU: “In high school, I was told my dreams were too big or that I wasn’t smart enough. Each of my professors at High Point University have pushed me to succeed and have always been more than willing to help me. My most impactful moment at HPU was when I got to go thank each of my professors during my acceptance into multiple law schools and Ph.D. programs! They always believed in me, and I am so thankful for their mentorship.”
Advice for underclassmen: “Don’t be afraid to go after what you want! But be prepared for your goals to also take a lot of hard work. The best thing you can do is adapt a positive mindset, and take classes you actually enjoy. Do that, and you’re sure to thrive academically.”
