Post-graduation plans: Cato works as a business consultant at CoAdvantage in Dallas, Texas. He connects with c-suite decision-makers to help them think differently about their company with the co-employment relationship offerings at CoAdvantage.
How HPU helped you get there: “Larry Quinn’s, chair of the marketing and sales department, class on negotiation helped me understand the techniques to create relationships where both parties can win inside and outside the business world. I have used the life skills taught on campus and applied them to real-world situations. The Office of Career and Professional Development helped me with my resume, LinkedIn profile and transition into the business world. Without them, I would not have landed the job I have now.”
Most impactful mentor at HPU: “My most impactful mentor was Professor Quinn since he worked with me to overcome the obstacles I faced. After taking his class, I now look at every interaction I have in a different light.”
Most impactful moment at HPU: “My most impactful moment at HPU was when I saw the music group Two Friends at an HPU concert. I listen to their music regularly, and this was one of those experiences I would never have had the chance to experience if it wasn’t for HPU.”
How has HPU’s inspiring environment contributed to your success? “I attribute my success to the mentors and connections I made on campus. That is something I could not have had at any other university.”
What are the values and virtues HPU’s campus helped you develop that you took with you after graduation? “The main value I took away is to ‘Choose to be Extraordinary.’ If every day you wake up and choose to get the most out of life that you can, there is no way you will not succeed.”
Advice for underclassmen: “Do not let the job application process stress you out. With all the advice and resources you have, you can’t fail even if you don’t get the job you initially wanted.”
