How HPU helped you get there:
“High Point University has provided me with a supportive success network and invaluable networking tools. From my first day on campus freshman year, I have had so many opportunities to develop both personally and professionally. My advisors, professors and mentors at HPU have been there to support me throughout my undergraduate career and prepare me to succeed after graduation. Career advisors in the Office of Career and Professional Development helped me craft my resumes and cover letters and tailor them to each specific job or internship I applied to. I have also received tips and tools to polish my interview skills. The office has also introduced me to a number of job and internship opportunities through the student recruiting platform Handshake, which I used to secure my first internship with Novant Health.”
Most impactful mentor at HPU:
“Dr. Premalata Sundaram, associate professor of accounting, and Mr. Robert Tillman, career advisor for the Phillips School of Business, have been absolutely instrumental to my success at HPU. I had two classes with Dr. Sundaram during my time at HPU and she was extremely passionate about ensuring all of her students learn and succeed. She has always supported me and held me accountable, teaching me both technical and soft skills in and out of the classroom. Mr. Tillman has supported me as a student and as an individual, providing me with guidance and advice in navigating my undergraduate experience. He is always a smiling face and eager to assist any student in need.”
Most impactful moment at HPU:
“One of my most impactful moments at HPU was shared with Dr. Doug Hall, vice president of Career and Professional Development. Dr. Hall went out of his way to invite me and another student into his office to speak with us about post-graduate career opportunities in our field. He walked us through different opportunities and made sure to share and promote resources for preparing for the application processes, which truly speaks to how passionate he is about the success of HPU students. Experiencing that kind of passion and care for my success truly meant the world to me.”
