HPU graduates are leading prestigious career paths around the world at Fortune 500 companies, international service programs, public school systems, top-tier law, medical and graduate school programs, and many other esteemed organizations thanks to their journey at HPU. Here’s a glimpse at one extraordinary member of the Class of 2023:

Name: Emma D’Ambruoso

Hometown: Watertown, Connecticut

Major: Business administration with minors in finance and healthcare management

Post-graduation plans: D’Ambruoso joins Webster Bank as a senior analyst in their Finance Rotational Program. In her role, she will rotate through three financial sectors over an 18-month period while advancing her skill set and having access to a mentor and senior leadership.

How HPU helped you get there:

“The resources at High Point University prepared me for a future in the banking and financial industry. Specifically, the Office of Career and Professional Development assisted me in perfecting my resume, cover letters and conducting numerous mock interviews. I received excellent guidance and mentorship from advisors in the career office.”

Most impactful moment at HPU:

“One of my most impactful experiences at HPU was being a resident assistant for three years on campus. This position helped me discover my love for leadership and problem-solving while building relationships. Another impactful experience that helped me find my path was joining Greek Life. I met my best friends through my sorority, Sigma Sigma Sigma, and I strengthened my leadership skills as I held multiple chairman positions in the chapter. I would not be the person I am today if I did not have the opportunity to get involved in the organizations HPU offers.”

How has HPU’s inspiring environment contributed to your success?

“The inspiring environment was one of the many reasons I chose HPU and inspired me to uphold the standards around me. Whether it was Mr. Chris Quick, often referred to as ‘boss man’ giving a warm welcome at the kiosk, the immaculate gardens or the classical music playing as I walk across campus — the campus details would brighten my day and inspire me to have a positive mindset and set new goals.”

What are the life skills HPU helped you develop that prepared you for long-term success?

“HPU helped me develop a growth mindset which taught me to embrace challenges, accept criticism and find inspiration in others’ success. By acquiring a growth mindset, I can take charge of my own learning and achieve larger outcomes.”

What are the values and virtues HPU’s campus helped you develop that you’ll take with you after graduation?

“The values I take with me are: God. Family. Country.”

Advice for underclassmen:

“Network and get involved. Opportunities are everywhere and you never know who could help you get a foot in the door.”
