“HPU prepared me for my future. The Office of Career and Professional Development helped me create a resume and personal website. I was encouraged to start searching for jobs early and connected with HPU alumni in my industry. HPU’s fine-dining learning labs prepared me for professional meals with my coworkers, boss and prospective sponsors. After dining at 1924 PRIME and Alo, I felt confident during business meals.”
Most impactful mentor at HPU:
“It’s so difficult to pick just one impactful mentor from my time at HPU. All the professors in the sales and sport management departments made a difference in my HPU experience. My professors helped me become a better saleswoman and guided me toward the career I am in today. They helped me narrow my interests and decide on the specific area of the sports industry I wanted to work in.”
Most impactful moment at HPU:
“My most impactful moment at HPU was traveling to the Olympic and Paralympic Training Center in Colorado Springs with the Sport Management Association. Visiting the training center is something I always wanted to do, and I was able to go during my first year at HPU. This trip solidified the fact that I wanted to work in the sports industry.”
How has HPU’s inspiring environment contributed to your success?
“The environment at HPU is truly unique. Now that I have graduated, I appreciate my time at HPU even more. I learned so much about the sports industry, and HPU helped make me stand out against other job applicants. HPU set a professional and high standard for their students, and that motivated me to be successful.”
What are the values and virtues HPU’s campus helped you develop that you’ll take with you after graduation?
“HPU emphasized the importance of generosity and gratitude in my life. I have been able to focus on these values post-graduation.”
Advice for underclassmen:
“Utilize everything HPU offers. Visit the Office of Career and Professional Development, and create your resume early. Don’t be afraid to step outside of your comfort zone. Connect with alumni because they will help guide you to your future career.”
