When it blooms: Beginning full bloom early May into fall
About: This garden was the first, and began as an experiment. And because of the campus-wide reaction caused by its beauty and sweet perfume scent, HPU started the botanical gardens. Today, there are 46 types of roses in front of Smith Library, displaying reds, yellows, and oranges reminiscent of a desert sunset. University Trustee Clarence Ridley supported this garden to honor his wife, Eleanor.
