Dean Welcome Message

Dear Admitted Students,

I am delighted to extend my heartfelt congratulations on your admission to the Kenneth F. Kahn School of Law at High Point University! On behalf of the entire faculty and staff, I welcome you to our law school community. Our holistic approach to legal education means that you will learn the knowledge, skills, and values to help you flourish as a lawyer-leader in the legal profession and wherever else your career takes you. Plus, our small class sizes, low faculty-student ratio, and professional mentoring for all students mean that you will learn in a supportive community designed to help you understand your unique professional calling.

Your admission is a testament to your outstanding achievements, dedication, and potential as a future legal professional. You are beginning a remarkable journey into the legal profession—a journey I began many years ago and that has taken me through amazing professional opportunities. From my role as a law firm litigator, to counsel for the North Carolina governor, to serving on the bench of the trial, appellate, and Supreme Courts in North Carolina, to now serving as a law school dean—all these positions were made possible by my law degree. Be encouraged! I am excited to see where your professional journey will take you!

If you have any questions about beginning your legal studies at HPU this fall, please contact our Admissions Office for guidance.

Once again, congratulations on your admission! We are confident you will thrive at High Point University School of Law and contribute significantly to the legal profession as a lawyer-leader of excellence, integrity, and vision. We look forward to welcoming you in person at new student orientation this August!

Sincerely,
Chief Justice Mark Martin (ret.)
Founding Dean and Professor of Law
