How HPU helped you get there:
“Pursuing a degree at HPU has helped me develop confidence and the skills I need to pursue my goals. Interviewing is a crucial step in achieving career success, and HPU ensures that each student is properly prepared. Through mock interviews and sales pitch competitions in my courses, I refined my interviewing skills and can now showcase my abilities in the workplace. The Office of Career and Professional Development is an incredible resource for students, and they have helped me update my resume and apply to internships.”
Most impactful mentor at HPU:
“My most impactful mentor at HPU has been Dr. Joey Fink, chair and assistant professor of history, who encouraged me to add a history minor. She helped me understand how everything we do today is connected to the past. She encourages students to look at things from multiple perspectives and to think critically. Even as a marketing major, I use the skills I learned in her classes every day.”
What has your internship experience been like, and how is it preparing you for your future?:
“Being an intern at Kontoor has allowed me to apply my skills from the classroom to real-life situations. I have shadowed professionals from a variety of departments, networked with interns from across the Triad and completed projects that have a genuine impact on the company. I have been able to challenge myself while still taking time to observe the company and understand how everyone works together to reach a common goal.”
