Thomson Reuters Future of Legal Education Program Features HPU Law Faculty

On April 13, 2023, the Thomson Reuters Judicial Advisory Council, chaired by High Point University School of Law Founding Dean and former North Carolina Chief Justice Mark Martin, live-streamed a program on the future of legal education. Thomson Reuters Corporation is the largest legal publishing firm in the world. Many lawyers and judges routinely use its legal research resources.

The program featured top legal experts in the United States, including the former Chief Justice of Arizona, Scott Bales, who formerly served as chair of the ABA Council of Legal Education; Linda Klein, senior managing shareholder at Baker Donelson and a past president of the American Bar Association; and Raymond Pierce, President and CEO of the Southern Education Foundation and a former law school dean. Topics discussed ranged from the new NextGen bar examination, to whether the LSAT should be mandatory as a condition of law school admission, to how law schools can improve diversity in legal education and in the legal profession.

Future students at High Point Law will have the opportunity to learn from these top experts, as each of these panelists has agreed to serve on the law school’s extended faculty. According to Chief Justice Martin, who moderated the program,

High Point Law “will be a place where students are able to learn from and interact with distinguished judges and prominent attorneys on a continuing basis.”
