Law School Deans’ Suite Tours New Building

Armed with hard hats, the dean and assistant deans at Kenneth F. Kahn School of Law recently had the opportunity to tour the new law school building. While the inaugural class of students and the growing law faculty and staff have already been hard at work during the 2024-2025 school year, the state-of-the-art building has been going up behind the scenes.

The High Point University community has been watching with amazement as the law building, along with the Workman School of Dental Medicine, rapidly progresses towards completion along the section of campus known as the Innovation Corridor.  The two buildings represent a combined $92 million in investment in the growth of High Point University. Following a groundbreaking ceremony for the law school building in September 2023, construction has been ongoing and will be completed in July 2025 – just in time for the second class of High Point Law students to matriculate the following month in August.

The picturesque new building will feature twelve classroom and seminar spaces, a 13,000-square-foot law library with study space for students, and a 120-seat courtroom that will also be used as a classroom. The large courtroom will have a state-of-the-art audio and visual system and will resemble a real courtroom with a jury box, a deliberation room, and a visiting judge’s chamber. The bench in the courtroom will have capacity to accommodate seven justices.

Everyone at the law school is excited for the continued growth of High Point’s Law program, aptly illuminated in the new building coming to fruition in just a few months. Founding Dean Mark Martin—the former Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of North Carolina—had this to say about the new law building:

“We are so excited to see the great work that is being done to complete the newest law school building in America, and we look forward to moving our students, faculty, and staff into this amazing new facility in just a few months.”
