Today, Thursday, September 11, the Kenneth F. Kahn School of Law held a dedication ceremony for its newly completed building. This ceremony marks the newest milestone in the life of the law school, which was founded in 2022 and welcomed its first class of students in the fall of 2024. In the last year, the inaugural class successfully completed a year of law school, spread among the various other beautiful buildings on HPU’s campus; the library added a breadth of student resources; and new faculty and staff were added to the growing law school team. To add to these successes, the law admissions team went above and beyond to enroll 75 students into the second class — all this before the completion of the state-of-the-art, 77,000-square-foot building, which now houses the entire law school. The new building boasts modern classrooms, the law library, a 120-seat courtroom along with two small courtrooms, faculty offices, and admissions and career services suites. The building is the culmination of millions of dollars invested by HPU and the generous donor for whom the school is named.

There are many highlights of the new building, but arguably the most poignant is the inlaid seal in the entrance, depicting the scales of justice along with the Latin inscription Iustitia, misericordia, et fides: Justice, mercy, and faith. Walking in every morning, the law students are reminded of the biblical instruction to do justice, love mercy, and walk humbly with God as they carry out the business of becoming lawyer-leaders who serve their clients and communities with civility and grace.
Supreme Court Justice Samuel A. Alito, Jr. offered the keynote remarks.
Reflecting on the new building’s completion and dedication, former North Carolina Supreme Court Chief Justice and Founding Dean Mark Martin commented,
We are thrilled to welcome a new class of students in our beautiful, state-of-the-art building. We are especially grateful to Dr. Nido Qubein, HPU President, and Kenneth F. Kahn, major donor, for their generosity, vision, and unwavering support.
