Good things await those who choose High Point Law — starting with our world-class new law building, recently dedicated and already a big hit.

At High Point Law, we’re redefining the first-year experience. Our students learn to write like lawyers in intimate classes of ten or fewer, creating a setting that feels more like a collaborative seminar around a kitchen table than a crowded lecture hall. Each student receives individualized instruction from expert faculty dedicated to developing exceptional legal writing skills. The results? A near-perfect student evaluation for the first semester of High Point Law’s legal research and writing course — a rare achievement in legal education.
Professional Development from Day One
First-year students take two professional identity formation courses, designed to inspire and inform their career paths:
- Fall Semester: Students engage with state and federal judges, top practitioners, and public law advocates from across the country. This pass/fail course encourages students to reflect on future career opportunities amidst the rigors of first-year doctrinal courses (challenging courses that students must take at virtually every law school).
- Spring Semester: Students develop personalized career plans, building on their own aspirations and mapping their own legal journeys.
Guaranteed Internships
Unlike many law schools, High Point Law guarantees a legal internship to every student who wants one. In our inaugural year, every single first-year student who wanted an internship secured one — including 32 prestigious judicial internships with U.S. Circuit Courts, State Appellate Courts, and Trial Courts.
Real-World Impact: Access to Justice Practicum
Students also take a unique Access to Justice Practicum taught by the Honorable Nathan Hecht, former Chief Justice of Texas. This pass-fail course shines a spotlight on the civil legal needs of those who cannot afford representation, giving students a powerful understanding of the role of law in society.

Reflecting on the student experience at High Point Law, Chief Justice Mark Martin (fmr), Founding Dean and Professor of Law, observed:
“We have worked to optimize the legal education experience. Seeing the excitement and joy on our students’ faces, I wish every law student in America had the benefit of these innovations.”
