Dean’s Faculty Welcome Message

At High Point University School of Law, we not only seek to educate our students in the legal doctrine and skills they need to succeed as a lawyer; we also aim to inspire them to develop their character, leadership, and professional identity to flourish as a person. As the Founding Dean of High Point Law, I am pleased to work with these esteemed faculty colleagues in accomplishing this mission of educating and inspiring our students.

Our full-time and extended faculty represent a highly accomplished and highly diverse group, including current and former federal and state judges, distinguished legal practitioners, and seasoned legal educators who are leading experts in their respective fields. In addition, our faculty are all dedicated teachers who bring their wealth of knowledge and expertise to the classroom and who appreciate legal education’s pivotal role in shaping the next generation of lawyer-leaders. They recognize how important mentorship is to foster personal and professional development, and they are committed to mentoring our students here at High Point Law.

Our faculty also create learning environments that encourage our students to cultivate their own beliefs and values and respect the views of others. Our students learn different ways of interpreting the law, of understanding the role of law in our society, and of approaching their professional obligations as a lawyer. Our faculty help our students navigate differences of opinion, diversity of experience, and varied interpretations in the ongoing search for truth.

I encourage you to review this impressive directory of our full-time and extended faculty and consider how your legal education journey would benefit from learning in our supportive community here at High Point University School of Law. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to me at [email protected].

Sincerely,
Chief Justice Mark Martin (ret.)
Founding Dean and Professor of Law
