This page is meant to give an overview of the items housed within HPU Libraries’ collections. Circulating collections are available for checkout, while Building Use Only collections can be viewed in-house. Most collections link to a catalog listing of the items.
Smith Library Book Collections
Core Academic Collection
The Core Collection is our primary circulating collection located in the center and back right side of the 3rd floor of Smith Library. It includes current nonfiction, academic and university press titles, biographies, literature, poetry, plays, and classics in good condition. This collection is organized by Library of Congress classification, which runs A-Z.
Heritage Collection
The Heritage (shelved as General) Collection is a circulating collection located throughout the 3rd floor. These books were in the original library at Roberts Hall, Wrenn Memorial, and later Smith Library. This collection is organized by the Dewey Decimal classification system, which runs 000-999. *Note: As of Fall 2024, newer items are still being reclassed into the Core Collection.
