Your student’s life is filled with change. They move to campus, enroll in courses for a few months and then travel home to visit before starting the process over again. Theirs is a journey of constant movement. And the ever-changing global economy is no different. The good thing is that young people are open to change and willing to be flexible.
At HPU, our commitment to prepare your student for a life of success and significance is rooted in a powerful combination of fast-paced innovation and rock-solid values. We have a healthy obsession for connecting the foundation-building liberal arts education with career-focused outcomes (Watch this short video clip from a recent interview I completed with North Carolina’s leading Business Review program that airs on public television). Our faculty inspire students to think critically, to research thoroughly, and to communicate effectively. This is the essence of a liberal arts education – a foundation that serves students well across the journey of their life.
Preparing Students For The World As It Is Going To Be
The challenge of course, and the reason higher education is sometimes questioned these days, is converting these foundation-building skills and reflective thought processes into tangible outcomes. A foundation serves no purpose if it is not supporting a structure. At High Point University, we get it. We want to prepare students for the world as it is going to be. I teach the President’s Seminar on Life Skills to freshmen and a companion course to seniors for a reason: To arm students with both the knowledge of their discipline and the practical intelligence needed to navigate the pathways of life.
So as we are rooted in liberal arts, we believe in the future, in technology, in evolving work environments and tools. This is why we’ve put some $100 million in ready access to student learning. This is why we’ve added new programs like visual merchandising design, entrepreneurship, sports communication, and a sales club quickly to our curriculum. This is why students like Meka Timlic are hired immediately after graduation by companies like AT&T in Atlanta – we are preparing graduates for positive outcomes.
We Won’t Stop
Fueled by your advocacy and support, HPU continues to thrive. We are passionate about partnering with you to position your student for a life of success. We are blessed to travel on this journey with you and your family. We are appreciative for the philanthropic investors who continue to endorse our model of learning and marvel at the outcomes. And we are excited about the ever-evolving programs and opportunities that our faculty and staff develop for HPU students.
Thank you for your prayers and your feedback. Please know you are valued as a member of the HPU family.
I look forward to welcoming you and your student back to campus this month.
Sincerely,
Nido R. Qubein
