A Message From Britt Carl, Director of Student Success

Dear First-Year Families,

It is hard to believe your student is finishing their first year at High Point University! The transition from high school to college is one of the most important life events your student will complete. This journey has included increased independence, understanding what it means to be a self-advocate, managing challenges without the immediate physical presence of a parent, and learning how to continue educational experiences as an online learner… Congratulations to your student for their perseverance and tremendous success this year. We are so proud of them!

This journey has also been a huge transition for families. Congratulations to you as well.

As our students successfully complete their first year, they will leave the Student Success Team and be assigned to a faculty advisor for their declared major. While your student will not have a Success Coach, they will be advised and mentored by one of our outstanding faculty members. These assignments will be made and communicated at the beginning of August. Students who are Undeclared, majoring in an area in the School of Business, or majoring in an area in the School of Communication will remain with a Success Coach for their sophomore year.

The Student Success Team will stay connected to our students this summer through virtual meetings and programming opportunities to keep our students engaged with us and with each other. We miss the daily interactions with our students, and we are beyond excited to see them again in August. We truly cannot wait to welcome them back home to HPU!

While we will no longer serve as their official advisor, we are still here for our students! We love when our upperclassmen check in with us and provide updates on their lives. We enjoy hearing about their continued success and accomplishments at High Point University.

It has been a joy, honor and privilege to work with your student during their transition from high school to college. Thank you for trusting us as they began their first independent journey away from home. We look forward to welcoming our students back home to campus soon.

Go Panthers!
