A Message From HPU President Nido R. Qubein; December 2020

Dear Parents,

I have often shared with you that HPU is a values-based institution – that we are an extension of your home.

During Christmas and the holiday season, this includes decorating the campus to reflect the warmth and love that you create in your own home.

In fact, we decorated the campus early this year since students would not be returning after Thanksgiving. Many students told me this simple gesture meant so much to them!

As you know, this year was very different due to the pandemic. While we did not get to enjoy many of our time-honored traditions in the same way as year’s past, from the Lessons and Carols Services to our Hillel Hanukkah Dinner, we were able to complete the semester in-person and safely learn and grow together this fall.

We are grateful to have witnessed the character of your student and their classmates at HPU through their dedication to safety protocols, and their continued commitment to many philanthropic and service initiatives that seek to help families in need.

While students contribute more than 100,000 hours of service throughout the year, their passion to serve families affected by the pandemic this semester was incredible.

Even during winter break, our campus is commemorating the holiday season in safe ways. Our Chapel and Religious Life Office is offering a Virtual Advent Series at 5:30 p.m. on Dec. 9, Dec. 16 and Dec. 23. Join us on those Wednesdays at 5:30 p.m. at www.highpoint.edu/live.

And, our campus will be providing a Christmas Drive Through for 14 days, inviting local families to drive through campus and enjoy our Christmas decorations. We hope this complimentary drive through will amplify the spirit of Christmas during a difficult year.

As you and your student prepare to celebrate the holidays, please know that our faculty and staff consider your partnership and advocacy a gift to be treasured. We are privileged to assist your student on this transformational journey and look forward to an extraordinary new year.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays,

Nido R. Qubein
President

P.S. We are working hard, right now, preparing exciting and safe activities for students when they return in January. Plus there are dozens of upgrades to campus taking place, from opening the Butterfly Café up for dinner, to food truck events, and even allowing students to have a registered visitor on campus. Safety and engagement are both critical as we look forward to another successful semester at the Premier Life Skills University.
