Dear Parents,

Your student’s life is filled with change. They graduated from high school and made it to HPU to embark on a transformational journey. Theirs is a journey of constant movement. And the ever-changing global economy is no different. The good thing is that young people are open to change and willing to be flexible.

At HPU, our commitment to prepare your student for a life of success and significance is rooted in a powerful combination of fast-paced innovation and rock-solid values. We have a healthy obsession for connecting the foundation-building liberal arts education with career-focused outcomes. Our faculty inspire students to think critically, to research thoroughly, and to communicate effectively. This is the essence of a premier life skills education – a foundation that serves students well across the journey of their life.

Preparing Students For The World As It Is Going To Be

The challenge, of course, and the reason higher education is sometimes questioned these days, is converting these foundation-building life skills and reflective thought processes into tangible outcomes. A foundation serves no purpose if it is not supporting a structure.

At High Point University, we get it. We want to prepare students for the world as it is going to be. I teach the First-Year Seminar on Life Skills to freshmen for a reason: To arm students with both the knowledge of their discipline and the practical intelligence needed to navigate the pathways of life.

So, as we are rooted in liberal arts, we believe in the future, in technology, in evolving work environments and tools. This is why Apple Co-Founder Steve Wozniak serves as our Innovator in Residence and Netflix Co-Founder Marc Randolph as our Entrepreneur in Residence. And this is why 99% of students are employed or continuing their education within 180 days of graduating–14 points higher than the national average.
