Dear HPU Parents,
Together, we have grown so much this semester. Our Fall Concert with Jason Derulo packed the Arena with 6,000 students for fun and live music, and even more engaging events will be available to students throughout this month.
It has been a time of transformation and caring for one another. I want you to know that our campus is committed to crucial learning experiences inside and outside of the classroom to support the growth of your student.
Service is an important part of that. HPU students contribute 500,000 hours of service to their local and global communities. This year started off with members of the Class of 2028 surprising local children with bikes. Together, during a team-building exercise, HPU freshmen built 150 bikes. Our newest students also gathered books to be donated to local elementary schools. The Stout School of Education Fellows delivered them and read to children.
Students have also been busy with many other locally-based service projects, including delivering approximately 20,000 donated items and over $20,000 in donations to Hurricane Helene victims organized by HPU’s Student Government Association, (SGA), which is also ranked #9 in the country for the Most Active Student Government by the Princeton Review.
Recently, HPU celebrated Veterans Day to honor the heroes of our nation for their service. We hosted more than 2,500 people for the 14th Annual Veterans Day Celebration, where more than 150 student, faculty and staff volunteers paid tribute to the men and women who serve this nation and celebrated our values as a God, family and country school.
I continue to be amazed with the thoughtful acts of generosity that our students display – how they live, how they serve and how they know that anything is possible.
And, as the holidays continue approaching, you will see more stories about students donating Thanksgiving meals and Christmas gifts to local families in our community.
In this season of gratitude, I am eternally grateful to be part of your student’s journey. I am thankful for the eternal relationships that we have in the HPU family and community.
May we all embrace the blessings of Thanksgiving, and most of all, may we continue to learn and grow together.
