Program Grievance

Complaints that fall outside due process, for example, those complaints from prospective or enrolled students, clinical education sites, or external agencies will be addressed as follows.

The first point of contact should be with the office of the Department Chair. If the complainant is unhappy with the process or resolution of the complaint, they can register their complaint with, in order, the Dean of the Congdon School of Health Sciences, the Provost, or the President.

Regardless from which university administrator the complainant seeks resolution, a document detailing the complaint must be sent to the Chair of the Department of Physical Therapy so that the Department can maintain a copy of the complaint and ultimately, its resolution. The initial complaint and all documentation of correspondence between the complainant and the University or its officials will be maintained by the University and the Department Chair.

In keeping with University policy, retaliation against any individual who reports or participates in an investigation of such reports is prohibited. Any such retaliation will be treated as a serious violation of this policy and will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination.
