Incoming Students Welcome!  We are so excited that you will be attending High Point University. Please see below for answers to some frequently answered questions. If you do not see your question answered here, please contact the Office of Student Life at 336.841.9231 or [email protected].

What do I need to bring with me to school?

All of our dorms come fully furnished with a dresser, desk, desk chair, bed frame, twin bed (with the exception of University Center II and R.G. Wanek Center- Full) and trash can. High Point University has created a list of things that we think are important to bring.

Are the beds Twin or XL Twin?

All of our beds are regular twin size. If you require an XL twin mattress, you are able to request this via the housing portal at highpoint.edu/myhome. Select “Contracts/Forms”, use the drop down menu and choose XL Mattress.

Are there cable hook ups in each room? What about wireless internet?

All of our rooms have a cable connection. Each room is provided basic cable. If a student wants to purchase an upgraded cable package, they may contact a local provider to do so.

Our entire campus is wireless, including all of our residential buildings.

What if I want to change my roommate?

Your new HPU home is one that believes in fostering an inclusive living and learning community where human diversity is valued and celebrated. As you prepare to move in and make new friends, please understand that a shared living space creates an opportunity for you to learn more about yourself and others.  This new experience will also help you develop life skills that you will use forever, like your ability to build bridges of understanding with others. For housing concerns, please contact the Office of Student Life at [email protected] or 336.841.9231.

I did not get assigned to one of my top building choices, am I on a waiting list?

Any student that did not receive their first preference is automatically placed on a waitlist for this. As there is movement, students next on the waitlist will be notified by telephone. If students would like to be added to additional waitlist or if you have questions, please feel free to contact Office of Student Life and we would be happy to assist.

New Student Housing Information

Below is some helpful information related to new student housing:

  • You will receive your login information from the Office of Information Technology. In order to access the online housing questionnaire, you will need to have paid your $500.00 enrollment deposit that reserves your spot at HPU. The housing portal will open and be available starting in January. As soon as it goes live, you will receive communication from the Office of Undergraduate Admissions with instructions.
  • New first year students will be notified of their housing assignments in early June. This communication will be sent to their HPU email account.
  • Housing assignments are assigned in order of how the individual applied to the University (application status, example Early Decision), their Orientation RSVP date and enrollment deposit date. Note: The statement does not mention Early Decision 2 students. We do not allow are first year students to select roommates.
