This list of suggested items has been developed to help you organize and pack for residential living at High Point University. Some of the items included in the list are optional and are not required for on campus living. Essential items include an asterisk (*).
APPLIANCES:

Hair dryer, curling iron, flat iron, etc.
LINENS AND TOWELS:
Bed sheets – 2 sets*

Toiletries (soap, toothpaste, shampoo, conditioner, bodywash etc.)

Dress clothes for fine-dining restaurants and internship interviews

First Aid Kit (aspirin, adhesive bandages, etc.)
Laundry basket or bag
Small vacuum cleaner
Clothes hanger
Toilet paper, paper towels*
Safe for valuables
Flashlight and batteries
Cleaning products (toilet bowl cleaner, multi-surface cleaner, dish soap)
Small toolbox (hammer, screwdriver, etc.)
Kitchen items (cups, plates, silverware, etc.)
Flash driver or external hard drive
HPU Passport (student ID card)

*Toilet paper provided for McEwen Hall, Millis Hall, North Hall, Wesley Hall and Yadkin Hall.
ITEMS NOT ALLOWED:
TVs may not be mounted on walls
Candles and incense
Curtain rods – they must be installed with a “tension” rod only.
Nothing with a coil burner is allowed – no toasters or toaster ovens. Air fryers are allowed.
OTHER THINGS TO NOTE
- All mattresses are regular twin size, except R.G. Wanek Center, Panther Commons, UC2 and Wilson single rooms which have full-size beds. XL Twin mattresses are available upon request – use the XL Mattress Link at www.highpoint.edu/myhome.
- All windows have blinds. Curtains may only be hung with a “tension” rod.
- Personal belongings should be covered by your parents’ insurance or some separate form of insurance in the event of damage or loss.
- Surge protector use is encouraged.
- If you plan to bring a computer to campus, please go to our Computer Purchases Page and view minimum requirements. Any computer related questions can be referred to the IT ServiceDesk at (336) 841-4357.
- Coax cable cord provided from IT if needed. Cable cord for TV provided. For residence halls not listed here and furniture dimensions, please visit our website at www.highpoint.edu/residencelife, and choose your residence hall from the menu on the left-hand side.
Buying Dorm Supplies? Ship to HPU!
Ship items to HPU for your arrival starting June 29th, all items received by August 8th will be delivered straight to your dorm.
All mail should be addressed using this format.
