Universidad San Ignacio de Loyola
Lima, Peru
Experience the vibrant Latin American culture in Peru, a setting thoroughly steeped in culture, nature, history, and adventure.

Universidad San Ignacio de Loyola (USIL) was founded in 1995 with the objective of shaping competitive, entrepreneurial leaders capable of dealing with the challenges of today´s world and doing business in Peru and throughout the world. The University is built on four institutional pillars: Entrepreneurship, Development, Social Responsibility, and Globalization. Its educational model ensures students’ academic development, with a demanding bilingual education and a background in business management. USIL offers 39 undergraduate programs and a range of coursework taught in English in Economics, International Business, Marketing, Management, Hospitality Management, Tourism, and Communications.

USIL was founded as the first university created and approved by the National Council for the Authorization of University Operations (CONAFU). It spreads across four campuses, three of which are located in the city of Lima, Peru. All campuses are equipped with modern infrastructure, facilities, and equipment to provide an optimal learning environment.

The school’s setting, Peru, has it all: from the beaches of the Pacific coast to the highlands of the Andes Mountains, the breathtaking marvels of Machu Picchu, and the tropics of the Amazon Jungle. Peru also has one of the fastest-growing economies in the world, boasting the largest number of exports in South America. You'll be living in Lima, a culturally-diverse location with over nine million inhabitants, including residents from all over the world. Experience life in Latin America’s culinary capital, the center of Spanish colonial rule in South America, and a historic city center declared as a UNESCO Cultural World Heritage Site.

Exchange students will have access to an academic advisor at USIL who will help them with his/her academic schedule and any other academic issues they may have during the semester. Additionally, students will be able to join USIL Ambassadors, a club of students which aims to be a bridge between international and local students. The main activities of the club are: promoting the integration process in the Peruvian and academic life, organizing social and cultural events, cultural adaptation, among other integration activities.

As part of the full exchange experience, international students often complement their studies with the exploration of the incredible attractions, food, and culture that Peru has to offer. Experience the Incan city of Machu Picchu, one of the new Seven Wonders of the World, and consider hiking the Inca Trail to get there! Explore the Amazon Rainforest. Visit the ancient capital of the Incan Empire, Cusco. Discover the Sacred Valley of the Incas. Relax on the pristine beaches of Mancora, a popular destination with excellent surfing. On campus, take part in a range of extracurricular activities including student clubs, sports and recreation, cultural activities, and volunteer and service-learning opportunities. Consider joining Consilium (International Relations Club), the International Business Club, or the International Club. Take part in basketball, capoeira, chess, judo, soccer, volleyball and more. Enjoy a range of cultural activities including theatre, folk dance, salsa, instrumental performances, choir, and more. Get involved in the local community with various recreational, educational, and social activities, as well as service-learning and farming activities in rural communities and social responsibility work in clinics, teen mom centers, and shelters.
