Dear Parents,
Summer 2019 may be winding down, but HPU students have been incredibly productive and active in pursuing their dreams and bettering themselves for the future. Meanwhile, we have been busy on campus preparing for the 2019-2020 academic year.
More than 40 new faculty members will be joining our family in the coming weeks. These faculty, who are well-qualified and eager to begin the fall semester, represent most all academic disciplines.
This summer, hundreds of High Point University students have completed challenging, exciting and rewarding internships all over the world, applying classroom learning to real-world situations. For example,
- Alexa Maldonado from New York scored internship experience with Ben & Jerry’s ice cream as a marketing and sales coordinator.
- Nolan Roth from Nebraska spent the summer with NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center in Maryland for an internship researching as a planetary environments laboratory intern.
- Catherine Ford worked as a public and media affairs intern with the United States Trade Representative, Executive Office of the President in Washington D.C.
- And Natalie De Boer from Michigan put her marketing major to use as the BISSELL Homecare sales merchandising intern for BISSELL this summer.
In our May term, nearly 125 HPU students traveled to 17 countries through 14 diverse and interactive programs on five continents. With new destinations added every year.
Additionally, more of our students worked with faculty members on campus this summer in a variety of undergraduate research and creative projects. Not only did students and faculty conduct research in the traditional sciences, but in areas such as English, math, game design, communication, psychology, education, political science and criminal justice as well.
We are excited about the coming academic year and look forward to having all of our students back on campus. We are thankful for your support and partnership.
