Shabbat and Holidays
At High Point University Jewish Life, our calendar is centered around the rhythms of Jewish holidays and Shabbat. We believe in celebrating Judaism in community, bringing students together for meaningful and memorable experiences throughout the year.

Shabbat

Our weekly Shabbat Dinner is a cherished highlight, offering a warm and inviting space for students to connect, reflect, and celebrate the end of the week.

Passover

We host a vibrant Seder on the first night of Passover, uniting our community in tradition. Our dining partners at High Point University ensure that matzah is available in the Café throughout Passover, and provide Passover-friendly meal options all week long.

High Holidays

For the High Holidays, students are welcome to join local synagogue services if we are not hosting services on campus. We also provide festive meals, ensuring a communal and spiritual experience.

Hanukkah

Depending on the calendar, we light Hanukkah candles nightly at Hillel, bringing the warmth of the holiday to campus. Our annual Hanukkah party and Shabbat celebration is always a highlight of the semester, and our popular latke-making event at the Hillel House ensures we always have plenty of delicious treats (though they disappear fast!). Menorahs can be seen throughout campus within department offices and other communal spaces.
