Becoming a Recognized or Chartered Organization

SGA Recognizes or Charters over 150 organizations. Each has a unique or specific purpose and goal that helps HPU students thrive and make a lasting impact.

How to form a club:

  1. Write a club Constitution
  2. Have an active Roster of ten (10) members
  3. Have two (2) attendance points from SGA-sanctioned meetings (Senate schedule)
  4. Submit the Club Recognition Form

What recognition includes:

  • Ability to request a budget of up to $1,000
    (Budgets are typically submitted in November for spring funding and in May for fall funding)
  • Reserve students’ spaces through 25Live to host events
  • Operate with a working Constitution
  • Host a table at HPU Involvement Fairs

Requirements to Maintain Recognized club status:

  • Gain five (5) SGA meetings per semester
  • Spend within budget
  • Have a club advisor and SGA Representative
  • Have an updated Roster
  • Uphold HPU Honor & Conduct Codes

To become a chartered, clubs must:

  1. Be a recognized club/organization in good standing
  2. Submit the Club Recognition Form
  3. Have an active roster of fifteen (15) members
  4. Present to the Student Affairs Committee (SAC)

Chartered clubs are eligible to:

  • Request an annual budget of up to $15,000
  • Submit bills to:
    • Finance Committee (up to $3,500)
    • SGA Senate (up to $15,000)
  • Submit budgets:
    • October/November for spring funding
    • March/April for fall funding
  • Reserve student spaces through 25Live for events
  • Operate with an approved club constitution
  • Table at HPU Involvement Fairs

Chartered clubs must:

  • Attend at least seven (7) SGA meetings per semester
  • Spend funds within the approved budget
  • Maintain an active club advisor and SGA representative
  • Have the SGA representative serve on a committee
  • Keep an updated club roster on file
  • Uphold HPU Honor and Conduct Codes
