Classes are called modules at the University of Warwick. When searching for modules, you'll want to be concerned with the module's dates and examination. In contrast to how classes are scheduled at HPU, the University of Warwick offers most modules over the course of a full academic year, with the examination period taking place in the summer after the Spring term commences. This is why you may see three terms listed on Warwick's website, appearing as a fall term, a spring term, and a summer term. Think of the summer term as more of a dedicated period for examinations.
Most of the students who study on exchange at the University of Warwick from the USA do so for one semester--namely, for the Fall semester. To accommodate this, Warwick offers a large catalog of modules available to students who choose to study for just one term. Students should plan to study at Warwick for the Fall term for the best offering of modules (it may be more difficult to fill a full schedule if you instead choose to study there during the Spring term).
Students who study on exchange to the University of Warwick for the full year will take year-long modules with standard examinations after the Spring term. Modules in the United Kingdom are valued using the Credit Accumulation and Transfer Scheme (CATS), where 10 CATS are equivalent to 3 HPU credits, 15: 4, and 20:5, etc. Students enroll in a semester load of 50-60 CATS, which is equivalent to a semester's course load at HPU. In planning, look for at least twice as many available modules as you may intend to take, giving you options and alternate courses for enrollment. View the courses offered for one semester in the Student Mobility Part-Year Module Handbook.
For High Point University to recognize the credits you complete abroad, you must earn at least a grade equivalent to a C in the U.S. HPU will not accept credit for courses with grades of C– or below. Grades for all courses earned abroad are recorded on the international transcript. Credits are received by HPU as transfer credits, which means the credit is received but the grade is not. Your HPU grade point average will not be impacted positively or negatively by your study abroad courses.
