The Bachelor of Arts in Sport Management is offered by the Nido R. Qubein School of Communication and is covered by High Point University’s institutional accreditation from SACSCOC. That accreditation also covers the sport management minor.
How Sport Management Programs Are Measured
Teams, leagues and agencies hire on experience. HPU students take sport management classes in their first semester, complete a professional development course before applying for internships, solve problems for local clients in class projects and finish with a required internship.

The program sits in the Nido R. Qubein School of Communication, a community of more than 750 scholars and producers in eight disciplines. Students work beside majors in sports media, strategic communication and media production.

Executives in Residence
Cynt Marshall, former CEO of the Dallas Mavericks, is HPU’s Sports Executive in Residence. Charlie Freeman, president of business operations for the Orlando Magic, is HPU’s Sports Business Executive in Residence and coaches students during campus visits.
Dallas Mavericks Externship
The Mavericks’ executive leadership has hosted HPU sport management students at team headquarters, where students shadow staff on game day and see how the organization runs values-based leadership.
Case Study Competition Team
Students join the sport management case study team and present their solutions at national conferences. Students can also join the sport management honor society. The team won first place at the Sport Entertainment and Venues of Tomorrow case study competition in Columbia, South Carolina, in November 2023. Read more.

The Council on Undergraduate Research named High Point University the recipient of its 2025 Campus-Wide Award for Undergraduate Research Accomplishments, judged against CUR’s Characteristics of Excellence in Undergraduate Research.
