Dear families,
We are so happy to welcome students to campus! High Point University has a treasured history of educating the whole student—mind, body and soul. This comes out of our spiritual legacy of being a school founded by people of sincere faith. Know the whole university, and particularly Hayworth Chapel and the Religious Life Office, is here to support your religious observance and spiritual journey. Our goal is that every student experience what it means to be beloved by belonging, by becoming who he or she is called to be, and that everyone beholds an educational journey that is about wonder and awe.
Christian Spiritual Formation. For our incoming students who are eager to deepen their Christian faith, please consider joining us at weekly Chapel, every Wednesday at 5:30 pm, starting August 25th. This inspiring, Christian worship service brings together song, relevant teaching, and community unique to the 20-something experience.
Weekly Chapel is not just an experience; it is a community. Weekly Chapel is your entryway to learn more about earning academic credit for coming to Chapel, our campus ministries, pilgrimage and mission opportunities, as well as student leadership opportunities such the Board of Stewards, choirs and modern worship leadership. Not to mention, every worship service wraps up with a free meal, too!
In addition to Wednesday, we will also continue HPU Sunday, our Sunday worshipping, which begins on August 22nd at 8 pm. Every Sunday night is a worship night in Hayworth Chapel.
HPU’s Catholic Campus Ministry hosts Catholic Mass on Sundays at 6 p.m. The organization also offers weekly activities and semester retreats.
Jewish Community and Faith. For our Jewish families, please get to know Ms. Amy Epstein, our Jewish Life Coordinator. She can help you connect with Hillel and the Jewish community at HPU.
Multifaith and Interfaith Engagement. We encourage all students not only to go deep within their own tradition but to build bridges of understanding with others from different faith traditions. Interfaith Dinner Club brings together HPU students across lines of religious and cultural difference to learn from one another. Always great food, always great conversation. Learn more!
Also, while Hayworth Chapel is a wonderful location for prayer and meditation, students outside the Christian tradition, particularly our Muslim students, may find Multifaith Prayer and Meditation Room helpful for religious observance. It is located on the first floor of David Hayworth Hall. It includes hand and foot washing stations and is a serene and secluded room for prayer.
