Experiential Education at FWSOP

Experiential Education

Experiential Education is a core component of the curriculum at the Fred Wilson School of Pharmacy (FWSOP), accounting for approximately 30% of the professional program and providing students with progressive, hands‑on learning experiences in real‑world pharmacy practice settings.

Students complete Introductory Pharmacy Practice Experiences (IPPEs) and Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experiences (APPEs) that integrate classroom knowledge with direct patient care, interprofessional collaboration, and professional skill development. These experiences allow students to apply clinical and scientific knowledge while developing communication, professionalism, and patient‑centered care skills essential to contemporary pharmacy practice.

FWSOP’s Experiential Education program is built on strong partnerships with dedicated preceptors who serve as mentors, role models, and educators. Through these collaborations, students gain meaningful exposure to diverse practice environments while preceptors play a vital role in creating practice‑ready, patient‑centered pharmacists.

*During the P4 year, students also complete a NAPLEX Pharmacy Board Exam Preparatory Course which includes a mandatory monthlong exam review in April on campus.
