Students at High Point University receive a holistic education educational experience both in and out of the classroom. Through all dimensions, our students significantly impact our campus and surrounding community with excellence and service. The Extraordinary Leaders recognition program recognizes students who embody stellar performance in the classroom, serve to make a difference in our university community and demonstrate outstanding leadership among their peers. Individuals worthy of recognition lead by example, understand the importance of academic endeavors and are committed to improving the HPU community.
Pillars of Recognition:
- Academic Excellence – students who exhibit academic achievement within their academic pursuits, scholarly and creative works, and a commitment to a growth mindset for personal improvement.
- Community Impact – students who exemplify a community-first mindset of positive impact and service to both our High Point University community and the local High Point community.
- Servant Leadership – students who demonstrate sustained and impactful servant leadership to the overall campus community through their involvement in clubs and organizations without need for recognition or thanks.

University Awards for Achievement, Citizenship, Leadership and Service are awarded by the University to seniors in the graduating class based on excellence in their respective category. Students are nominated by members of the faculty and staff and are selected by a committee appointed by the Vice President of Student Life. We understand all four characteristics may be exhibited in those selected while one emerges to define the individual’s legacy of impact during their time at High Point University. The awards are underwritten by an endowment fund established in honor of William Swanson and Helen Faris Wray.
