How to Apply

Complete and submit your application for admission and all required supporting application forms online using The Common App, Coalition/Scoir Application, or HPU Application.

Take time on your essay. This is your best way to communicate with the Admissions Committee who you are beyond the courses you’ve taken and the activities you’ve been a part of. This is the first thing your Admissions Counselor will review as they try to get to know you. Be sure to make the most of your introduction.

Ask your School or College Counselor to send your official high school transcript to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions or upload through your application or Slate.org.

Please provide one letter of recommendation from either your counselor or a teacher.

High Point University is test optional. If you feel that your test scores could have a positive impact on your application for admission, we are happy for you to include them.
Request that the official results of the SAT or ACT be sent to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. High Point University’s SAT code is 5293; the ACT code is 3108.

At High Point University, we want to know more about you! As a part of your application we also welcome links to personal web pages or platforms such at ZeeMee, Cirkled In, and LifeStream. Please note that submitting a profile link is not a requirement and the evaluation of your admissions application will not be delayed as long as all required materials are received by the stated deadlines.

Deadlines & Decision
Why Choose Early Decision? Namely, to have first-choice in everything at High Point University–dorm selection, fall class schedule, and more!
- First Priority in selecting your ideal campus housing
- First Priority in selecting your fall class schedule
- Early Notification of admissions decision
- Early opportunity to move your things into your new home before others
- Early (December 1) assignment of your HPU Success Coach to begin planning your success at HPU
- Why apply Early Decision? Check out these Benefits of Applying Early Decision to High Point University.
Applying Early Action to High Point University allows students to receive an admissions decision early—by mid-December—without the pressure of a binding commitment. It’s a great option for students who are excited about HPU and want to demonstrate their interest while keeping their options open. Early Action applicants also receive priority consideration for scholarships.
Early Decision II (Priority 2) is for applicants who discover HPU after the November early deadlines and also rank HPU as their top choice. Early Decision II is a binding agreement stating that, if admitted, you will withdraw applications from all other institutions, as well as commit to and enroll at HPU. Students who apply under the Early Decision II plan will be given the same benefits as Early Decision (Priority 1) with priority right behind the ED students.
High Point University has already received over 22,000 applications for admission this year; however, we realize that not everyone’s college search follows the same path. If you feel that you are a strong candidate for the unique educational opportunities at HPU, we welcome your application. At this point, offers of admission are only made if space is available and if we feel that you will make the most of our experiential learning, values based education, and life skills development.
